Lina surprises herself when she quotes Ms. Picotto to the prince. She tells him, “He who does not work, shall not eat.” What do you think this says about how Lina has changed as a character?

I think her response is multifaceted. She uses that phrase as a way to influence the prince into contributing in a helpful manner. She is also trying to test him and figuring out what type of person he is. I think she wants to make sure that they did the right thing by saving him so she's trying to see if he has redeeming qualities. I think it does also show that she has changed by learning that you can contribute to the situation no matter your age, social class, education level, and abilities. Finally, she knows that everyone is slightly afraid of Ms.Picotto, so by copying her, Lina can bluff her way through the situation and seem in control.
