What motivated Marisol, Alma’s sister, to arrange for both Pedro’s and her own father’s deaths?

Greed for her father. Maintaining the pure blood line for Pedro

This totally suprised me. Greed and control were her motivation. She hid these characteristics from her family well. She was so kind to her granddaughter but there was an unknown side to her that many did not know about. The boy who loved her certainly didn't know.

I also think Marisol hid her motivations and actions well. As years went by, she must have thought of herself as the guardian of the family's honor and place in the world, not just its cuentista. Other members would not understand or be able to do what she felt had to be done to preserve the family's destiny and secure its future. Maybe this was what she told herself in order to justify more self-serving motives. By twisting her stories to distort the truth, Marisol used her gift to hide her actions and protect her own respected position.

I think greed, classism, and jealousy were Marisol’s motivation. I feel like she was jealous that Alma had found love and their father may have approved, but was also angry that it was with someone “beneath” them. I think she wanted the family and money in her control and not wasted on lesser people too.
