I am a fan and daily user of Libby. I checked out the audiobook as soon as I saw the announcement. I have registered for the event and looking forward to meeting others who have read the book.
This book also helps me open up my reading to topics and authors from backgrounds that are new to me.

Thank you for your time!
Was it difficult to switch from YA to adult fiction for this story?
Was any of this novel based on your own experiences or stories you’d been told?
The descriptions of Puerto Rico were written with such reverence, do you feel a strong connection with the islands? Do you visit often?
I know hurricanes affect Puerto Rico. Were the monkeys and the murder mystery stories based on real events too?

Looking forward to the meeting!
I was wondering why the abuela would have wanted the truth illuminated upon her death? Was she guilty at all the hurt she had caused her family? The discrimination and prejudices are generationationally felt. Is coming clean a form of putting her soul to rest? Was Isla picked or cursed?
TTFN.
